I’ve noticed the fandom’s been getting confused as to what’s been confirmed canon by Becky and Joe (This Is It Collective, the creators of Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared) and what’s just rumors, so I put together this list to hopefully help with that. Feel free to let me know if something’s wrong!
- The clock’s name from DHMIS II is Tony. (Confirmed by Becky Sloan here.)
- The notebook is actually called Sketchbook. (Confirmed by the official site here - click on the first picture and place your cursor at the bottom to bring up the caption.)
- Yellow’s Father is named Roy. (Confirmed by Becky’s Facebook banner here.)
- When asked about Sketchbook’s gender, Joseph Pelling said it is paper. (Confirmed by Joe on Twitter here.)
- The television program the puppets were planning to watch was a series of shorts made by Becky and Joe called “Craig’s Big Day.” (Confirmed by Becky here.)
NOTE: The names circulating for Red, Yellow, and Bird (Hairy, Manny, and Robin respectively) have not been confirmed as canon. The only indication they might be were that they were added to Tony’s entry on the Villains Wiki here. However, this wiki is free for anyone to edit, and no other mentions of these names have shown up. (It’s worth noting that Yellow has a D on his overalls, not a M. Considering his father has an R for Roy, this is suspicious.) You’re free to use them of course, but they are not confirmed as canon.
I just realized that I never updated this for the 3rd video!
- The butterfly’s name is Shrignold. (Confirmed by Becky multiple places, such as her Twitter here.) (It’s work nothing that the cult tries to change Yellow’s name to “Shrignis” in the video, which implies the prefix “Shrig” is their cult name. Becky also refers to the purple man and rabbit as “Frog Boy” and “Rabbit Boy” respectively on her Instagram.)
ALSO NOTE: It is not confirmed that Sketchbook and Tony are getting married during the end of the video. The proof people have been citing is from the Villains WIki, which, as noted above, anyone can edit without a source. However, there is nothing disproving this, and the scene is free to interpret as you wish.
And another update for DHMIS 4:
- The computer teacher’s name is Colin. (Confirmed by Becky on Twitter here).
- The globe’s name is Gilbert. (Confirmed by Becky’s Instagram.)
- When asked if Red was Timmy the Intern, Becky simply replied that “Red Guy is Red Guy“. Between this and Red getting cut off before he can state his name in DHMIS 4, it is heavily implied that the three main characters do not have names.
